This privacy policy explains how PTO Calculator (operated by Nico Nuscheler Digital Services, see the imprint) handles personal data when you visit pto-calc.com.

2. What data we collect
The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Inputs you enter (PTO days, salary, state, dates) are never sent to a server. They are only used locally to compute results and may be encoded in the page URL if you choose to share or bookmark a calculation.
The following limited categories of data may be processed automatically when you load the site:
- Server log data: our hosting provider Vercel records standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for up to a few days for abuse prevention and debugging. See Vercel's privacy policy.
- Local storage: we store one preference flag (
pto-cookie-ok) in your browser's local storage to remember you have dismissed the cookie banner. This never leaves your device. - URL state: the values you enter are appended to the URL (e.g.
?annualDays=15&schedule=biweekly) so links can be shared. This is not transmitted to us; it lives only in your browser tab and any link you choose to share.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
The local-storage preference described above is functional and exempt from cookie-consent requirements under § 25 (2) TTDSG.
Google AdSense
This site participates in Google AdSense, an advertising service provided by Google Ireland Limited ("Google"), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Our publisher ID is ca-pub-9952874348526064.
Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies (such as the DoubleClick DART cookie and IDFA / Android Advertising ID) to serve advertisements based on your prior visits to this site and other websites on the internet. These technologies allow Google to display personalised advertisements and to measure their effectiveness.
Google may transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Personal data may be processed in the United States; Google participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, providing an adequate level of protection under Art. 45 GDPR.

4. Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA. Personal data (such as IP addresses in logs) may therefore be processed in the United States. Vercel is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, providing an adequate level of protection under Art. 45 GDPR.
5. Domain and DNS
The domain is registered through GoDaddy. WHOIS data is protected by GoDaddy's privacy service.
6. Legal bases
- Server logs and security: legitimate interest in operating the site (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR).
- Functional local storage: legitimate interest in providing the requested feature (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR; § 25 (2) TTDSG exemption).
- Advertising cookies (when active): consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR; § 25 (1) TTDSG).
7. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to processing, and data portability of your personal data. You can also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — for residents of Germany, the competent authority is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority (BayLDA).

8. Retention
We do not store personal data on our own servers. Vercel retains anonymised request logs for a short period (typically a few days). Local-storage entries persist until you clear your browser data.
